Favorite Things: KitchenAid Mixer

This is my favorite small home appliance. Raise your hand if you have one and love it…enough to take pictures of you hugging it. No? Just Me? Oh well.

I picked this guy up for $75 at a swap meet about 7 years ago. It was well “loved” (a nice word for used in this case) and was begging to be the centerpiece of my countertop.

When I set it on my counter, it looked boring and sad. It needed a makeover. With a crafting hole punch and some sheets of vinyl, I gave it the Kristin touch. Now, it’s a beautiful one-of-a-kind mixer. No one has one like mine, and I like it that way!

Its the original Classic Plus, so nothing fancy…it’s dirty, it makes weird noises, and it bounces around a little, but it’s helped me create some of the most amazing recipes! I’ve made breads (like this cinnamon sugar bread), cakes, cookies (like these coconut chocolate chip cookies), super rich brownies, pizza doughs, and much more!

One day, the small noises will be big problems, the bouncing will take it right off the counter, and it will just wear out. It will be a sad day and I will either have to repair or replace it. If I have to replace it, I will get the fancy bowl lift one in teal, and I will bedazzle it with vinyl stickers like it’s predecessor.

I will probably buy this one next… I’ve had my eyes on it for awhile… (hint hint, gift anyone?!)
